Pavers is a leading name in stylish, high-quality footwear, trusted by customers across the UK and beyond. With roots firmly in family values and a passion for service, Pavers continues to grow from strength to strength. Based in York, the company has expanded its operations, investing in new spaces to support its thriving team and future ambitions.
Pavers had reached a pivotal point in their journey. Their existing office space no longer matched the pace of their growth or the needs of their evolving teams. Overcrowding was limiting collaboration, and the space wasn’t supporting employee well-being or fostering the kind of connections that drive a thriving business.
They needed more than just additional desks — they needed a space designed for how their people work now and how they will work in the future. The focus was clear: create an environment where people, place, and product come together to support collaboration, creativity, and well-being.
At the same time, Pavers had just completed a brand refresh — a perfect opportunity to align their physical workspace with their new identity. The challenge was not only to design a modern, flexible environment but also to ensure it reflected their culture and vision for the years ahead.
Our design team set out to create an environment built around Pavers’ priorities. We focused on delivering a workspace that connected their teams, brought their new brand identity to life, and showcased their products throughout. The aim was to make collaboration easy and spontaneous — giving people the right spaces to work, meet, and reset without friction.
To make the transition as smooth as possible, we also delivered a session with the Pavers team on how to use the new spaces effectively. This helped embed new ways of working from day one, ensuring the team felt confident, supported, and ready to make the most of their new environment.
Pavers’ rapid growth had left their old workspace struggling to keep up. Teams were spread out and disconnected, with little space to collaborate or gather informally. The office layout reinforced siloed working, and the environment didn’t reflect the brand’s fresh identity or support employee well-being.
Another major challenge was structural — creating a more open, connected environment required physically opening up the building. Forming a large structural opening between floors would demand careful design and engineering to ensure the space was both functional and inviting, without compromising flow or comfort.
The challenge was clear: create a workspace that could bring people, product, and culture together under one roof — and make it future-proof for Pavers’ next chapter.

The new Pavers workspace is bright, modern, and built for connection. At its heart is a dramatic structural opening between floors, creating a double-height space that acts as a central hub. This town hall-style area not only brings teams together but also ensures a strong visual connection throughout the building — making the whole space feel open and inclusive.
Natural wood finishes and greenery add warmth and a sense of calm, while bold brand elements and contemporary lighting bring energy and clarity. Breakout spaces, soft seating, and flexible work zones encourage collaboration without losing the relaxed, people-focused atmosphere.
The result is a workplace that feels dynamic and welcoming — a true reflection of Pavers’ brand and ambitions for the future.
The new office has transformed the way Pavers work. Product is now showcased throughout the workspace with integrated display cabinets, creating a strong connection between what they do and where they work. Flexible breakout spaces make it easy for people to catch up informally without the need to book a room, while open-plan collaboration zones help to break down barriers between teams. Well-being has been put at the heart of the design, with areas where employees can step away from their desks to relax and recharge.
The refreshed brand identity is woven seamlessly into the space, with new colours, fonts, and graphics bringing the environment to life. The result is a modern, vibrant workplace that puts people first — one that fosters collaboration, reflects Pavers’ evolving brand, and supports the way they work today with the flexibility to grow alongside them.
