Sustainable Workspaces

The climate crisis can no longer be ignored. As we reset our understanding of work and workspaces, now is the opportune moment to review your contribution to sustainability.

While we continue to lead the way in design innovation, we’re also taking major steps to ensure that our portfolio includes sustainable office design options across our offering.

The time to act is now.

Organisations across the world need to lead the charge in sustainability. This will be achieved by building workspaces that work for both your people and the planet.

Each sustainability journey is unique.

That’s why we talk with you first to analyse and understand your organisation, before curating a feasible, tailored sustainability solution. Whether you’re looking to attain an internationally-renowned accreditation such as BREEAM, SKA or Fitwel – or are looking for a completely personalised solution developed by the Rhino team, you can rely on our expertise to ensure your workspace is sustainable.

The four steps to your workspace sustainability
  • Engage

From the moment you reach out to us, you’ll be assigned a dedicated project director who will establish both your organisation’s business and sustainability needs. This helps us tailor our approach to your specific requirements.

  • Identify

From our initial conversations and first brief from you, the team will assess all options and advise on the best route to take. Whether you intend to self-certify or not, we’ll confirm the most appropriate pathway for you. We may also include our professional sustainability partners, who can confirm and further advise where necessary.

  • Plan

The planning stage involves our designers, site managers and in-house experts to scope out your chosen sustainability pathway, from concept to completion. The accreditation route will see us collaborate with industry professionals and experts to ensure criteria is met and goals are achieved. The bespoke Rhino route takes aspects of sustainability that work for your company and integrate them within your workspace design as a whole.

  • Execute

Here’s where the fun starts! This stage sees plans become a reality. Whether a complete new build or just remedial changes to an existing structure, our team will professionally manage the entire project, keeping you updated throughout. The result is a workspace with vastly improved sustainability across the board.

Ecuity

Requiring a multi-purpose space finished to a high standard and reflecting the brand throughout, Ecuity came to Rhino to begin the design process.

We designed an office space which incorporated and reflected the space’s industrial roots. Exposed services and raw metal features ensured this vibe was achieved.

Gousto

Gousto

The snowballing successes of Gousto forced them to confront one of their biggest challenges; to create a space in their prestigious London Shepherd’s Bush location that would embody the brand and company’s DNA, setting the precedent for future location workspace design as they expand in the future.

WMNZ Pledge

As part of our corporate sustainability commitments, we’ve partnered with local organisation Sustainability West Midlands, joining their West Midlands Net Zero Pledge.

Making an impact locally is so important, and starting small enables us to build on our success and move to greater sustainable achievements as the business progresses.

Fitwel

The benefits of designing to Fitwel standards are numerous, with buildings that can promote physical, mental and emotional wellbeing.

A recent study found that Fitwel-certified buildings had a 30% decrease in absenteeism, resulting in estimated cost savings per employee. Workers in Fitwel-certified buildings also report higher levels of satisfaction with their work environment.

BREEAM

BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method) is the world’s leading sustainability assessment method for buildings, infrastructure and master-planning. Its standards provide a framework to deliver projects to a high performing and sustainable standard, support commercial success, and create positive environmental and social impact.

If your project needs to be BREEAM accredited, our in-house BREEAM associates have in-depth understanding of the processes, planning, delivery and risk management.
