Delivered in just 14 weeks, the 28,000 sq ft Design & Build project created a future-ready environment that supports the business today and as it continues to grow.

Initial Drivers
Calor Gas was relocating to a new headquarters and wanted to create a workplace that better reflected the needs of its people. The ambition was to provide an environment that encouraged collaboration, supported learning and wellbeing, and offered the flexibility to accommodate different ways of working while supporting the company’s long-term growth.
Proposal
Rhino delivered the complete Design & Build solution, managing the project from workplace design through to construction and M&E coordination. Working closely with Calor Gas, we created a people-centred workplace that balances collaboration, wellbeing and flexibility, ensuring every element of the space aligned with the way the business operates today while remaining adaptable for the future.
Key Challenges
The project involved transforming almost 28,000 sq ft of office accommodation within a live business park, requiring careful planning and coordination throughout. Alongside delivering a high-quality workplace, the project included the integration of complex mechanical and electrical services while maintaining programme certainty and minimising disruption.
Look & feel
The design draws inspiration from the natural world, creating a calm, welcoming workplace that supports both wellbeing and collaboration. Warm timber finishes, soft neutral tones and integrated biophilic elements bring a sense of nature into the space, while feature planting and organic acoustic ceiling baffles add texture, improve acoustics and create visual interest throughout.
At the heart of the workplace is a generous social hub, designed to encourage informal collaboration and bring people together. A variety of work settings, from relaxed breakout areas and café-style seating to focus booths and acoustic meeting pods, gives employees the freedom to choose the environment that best suits the task at hand. Exposed structural elements are balanced with softer materials and contemporary finishes, creating a workplace that feels modern, authentic and connected to its surroundings.
The result
The result is a future-ready headquarters that brings people together and supports the evolving needs of the business. The new workplace encourages collaboration, knowledge sharing and employee wellbeing, while providing a destination office that reflects Calor Gas’s culture and long-term ambitions. Delivered on programme, the project demonstrates how thoughtful workplace design can enhance both the employee experience and business performance.
