With offices located across the world, HALCO’s Hereford headquarters plays a vital role in supporting its growing international operation. As the business continued to expand, it needed a workplace that could accommodate its increasing workforce while reflecting the quality, professionalism and ambition of the brand.

Initial Drivers
HALCO had outgrown its existing workspace and required a solution that would unlock additional capacity within its building. However, the challenge extended far beyond creating more office space.
The building featured multiple mezzanine levels at varying heights, with some areas spanning two storeys and others three. HALCO needed a workplace that could bring these spaces together into one cohesive environment while maintaining operational efficiency and complying with complex building regulations.
The business also wanted the new workplace to reflect its premium market position through high-quality finishes and carefully considered design throughout.
Proposal
Working closely with HALCO and Building Control from the outset, Rhino developed a strategy to maximise every available square metre of the building while ensuring full compliance across the entire site.
The design connected the various mezzanine levels to create a seamless and highly functional workplace. Intelligent zoning was introduced to support different departments and working styles while maintaining a strong sense of connectivity throughout the building.
A former warehouse area was transformed into a central amenity hub, providing visitor facilities, welfare spaces and communal areas that now act as the heart of the workplace. We also created a dedicated management suite with private facilities and breakout space, delivering an environment that supports both focused work and employee wellbeing.
Key Challenges
One of the project’s most significant challenges was integrating multiple mezzanine levels into a unified workplace experience while navigating complex building regulations and maintaining the operational requirements of the business.
Close collaboration between Rhino, HALCO and Building Control ensured compliance was achieved without compromising the design vision. Careful planning allowed us to maximise usable space and create clear connections between departments, despite the building’s complex structure and varying floor levels.
Look & feel
HALCO wanted a luxurious, contemporary workplace that reflected the quality of its business and created a lasting impression for both employees and visitors.
The interior palette combines warm beige tones, rich walnut finishes, elegant marble surfaces and brass detailing to create a sophisticated and welcoming environment. Premium flooring, Crittall-style glazing, bespoke lighting schemes and acoustic treatments were incorporated throughout the office to enhance both aesthetics and functionality.
Particular attention was given to the washroom facilities, which were delivered to an exceptionally high specification, ensuring a premium experience across every touchpoint of the workplace.

The completed project delivers a modern, connected and high-performing workplace that supports HALCO’s continued growth both now and into the future.
By transforming a complex industrial environment into a cohesive office space, Rhino created a workplace that balances functionality, compliance and exceptional design.
