The Challenge

When Kortec first approached us their building was only a drawing on paper.  They were looking for a workplace which would support their ambitious growth path to see expansion in the warehouse, the lab and mixing areas, the workspace and client support spaces.  Most importantly, they needed a space that would reflect their innovative position in the market.

The main challenge was to accommodate the various different environments and spaces that were needed – from the lab and specialist spray booths through to premium offices to welfare spaces. Another challenge was to weave in the brand of the two main organisations and showcase the different surface finishes they create. As the building had not been constructed, we were able to fine-tune the layout through 3D modelling.

Our Solution

Our solution was to work through everything in very fine detail – addressing everything from a present as well as a future perspective, viewing the proposal through the eyes of a client wherever possible.

The geometric, faceted graphics Kortec use throughout their website and marketing was mirrored in features throughout the office, most noticeably with the bespoke ceiling bulkheads. This subtle interweaving of the brand ensures staff feel connected with the company and its values.

The office space itself hosts a variety of different workspaces from desks through to collaboration areas and unofficial meeting spaces, ensuring the workforce are supported and valued.

Thanks to Rhino for managing our fit-out project – it’s resulted in a great space that has contributed significantly to staff morale and has also proved a valuable tool in demonstrating our values/calibre of service to prospective clients.

The project was well managed overall considering the tight timescale; in particular the site project manager flagged up several points that hadn’t been fully considered ahead of time, enabling us to address them effectively.

The quality of workmanship is good and snagging issues have mostly been resolved efficiently.
