As one of our project managers, Paul juggles his time between the office and project sites. We've asked him some questions to find out what his role involves and of course what he gets up to away from the workplace!
What’s your background?
I have time served as a carpenter & joiner. I then worked my way up the management ladder from site foreman to site manager through to Contracts & Project Manager.
What are the values that drive you?
Be the same person in all situations, strive to better yourself & own any situation. Always be honest and truthful - treating everyone the same.
What does a typical day look like for you?
Some may call it controlled chaos! I stat by planning the day, addressing situations, ensuring projects are running correctly and dealing with any unplanned predicaments! Ensuring we have a happy team and client and achieving our set targets.
What are your biggest professional challenges?
I’ve always found impossible deadlines, lack of resources and lack of accountability to be the biggest challenges.
What do you like most about your job?
Addressing challenging situations and exceeding the client’s expectations. The variety of jobs, clients and locations around the UK is also enjoyable.
Given a chance, what job would you like to try for a day?
Work in a bowling alley, not full time, just tempin :) or a Football pundit, presenter.
What do you enjoy doing when you are not working?
Socialising with friends and family, following the Birmingham City, generally having fun and enjoying life!
